Competitive Programs
KW Gymnastics Club has successful programs in both men's and women's competitive gymnastics.
Our staff is directed by Head Coach, Dan Glendon. Dan has a very long history of oustanding
achievements in Provincial, National and International gymnastics. Athletes under his
direction have competed at the highest levels throughout the world in such prestiguous
competitions as American Cup, Grande Prix de Paris, Avignon Cup, Pacific Alliance, World
Student Games, Pan American Games, World Championships and the Olympic Games.
PHILOSOPHY OF COMPETITIVE PROGRAMS
The philosophy of the competitive program is quite simply "EXCELLENCE THROUGH EFFORT".
All participants in our competitive programs are expected to strive for personal excellence
by means of hard work and resolute dedication.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Competitive Program is designed for those athletes who have been selected by the staff to
prepare for competition in Gymnastics Ontario sanctioned meets. Entry as well as re-entry into
any of the Competitive Programs is dependent on annual tryouts that assess skill/routine level,
strength, power, flexibility, coordination and tenacity. From the very first day that an athlete
enters the KW Gymnastic Club Program with the hopes of becoming a Competitive gymnast every
attempt will be made to help them reach this goal but we will also remain realistic about their
progress and status along the way.
All gymnasts will use our exclusive "GYMNASTICS TRAINING SYSTEM" which is a practical no-nonsense
guide to elite gymnastics. Its purpose is to ensure that the gymnasts follow a logical step-by-step
approach to their training. The entire program is based on each athlete systematically acquiring
very specific pre-requisites before advancing to the next skill or level. This training method helps
to assure optimum technical performance and safety.
